Chelsea want £65 million for Christopher Nkunku as Bayern Munich consider January move

Chelsea have notified Bayern Munich that they want about £65 million for Christopher Nkunku.

Nkunku might leave Chelsea this month, and the club is considering signing 19-year-old Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel to replace him.

Bayern are interested in signing Nkunku, who is facing an unclear future at Stamford Bridge after being assigned a smaller role under Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea paid an initial amount of £52 million to sign Nkunku from RB Leipzig in 2023, and they think his worth has grown since then.

The 27-year-old has 13 goals for Chelsea this season, but he has had few opportunities in recent weeks and has struggled to put pressure on Nicolas Jackson, despite his quiet period.

Nkunku was poor when handed a rare start in a 2-0 loss at Ipswich in December, and he missed a penalty at 0-0 at Morecambe on Saturday.

Maresca has made it obvious that he favors classic wingers in his system.

There has been no planned swap arrangement between Chelsea and Bayern, with the Blues asking that the two prospective moves for Nkunku and Tel be kept separate.

Tel is highly regarded throughout Europe, having made his debut for Rennes at the age of 16 before joining Bayern for €28.5 million a year later.
