Hojlund's difficult spell at United continued as he struggled to make an impact in the FA Cup fifth-round match on Sunday. The Danish striker was substituted in the 68th minute without scoring, leaving the pitch amid growing concerns over his form. Obi, who made the switch from Arsenal's youth setup to United last year, replaced Hojlund and delivered a promising cameo that caught the attention of fans and pundits alike.
Despite United’s disappointing exit from the FA Cup, club icon Wayne Rooney had high praise for Obi’s performance. Speaking on BBC's Match of the Day, Rooney highlighted the young forward's movement and positioning, noting, "What I’ve really liked about him is that he’s been putting himself in excellent positions. I’ve been really impressed by him — he looked like the player who could make the difference."
United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, also acknowledged Obi’s potential, hinting that the youngster might earn a starting spot in the upcoming matches. After the game, Amorim stated, "Anything can happen in the next games. We need to assess the opposition and the player's physical condition. I will focus on selecting the best players to win the next match."
With Obi’s impressive cameo, many are now speculating that he could replace Hojlund in the starting lineup for United's next fixture, adding further intrigue to the team's attacking options.
