‎Vinicius Jr faces potential two-year FIFA ban over club ownership breach

‎Real Madrid may soon be without one of their brightest stars, as Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior is under formal investigation for a serious breach of FIFA’s Code of Ethics. If found guilty, the 24-year-old could face a ban of up to two years — a sanction that could dramatically alter the trajectory of his career.

‎Since joining the Spanish giants from Flamengo in 2018, Vinicius has grown into one of football’s most electrifying talents. With 14 major trophies to his name — including two UEFA Champions League titles and three La Liga crowns — he has become a cornerstone of Carlo Ancelotti’s attacking force. This season alone, he has contributed 21 goals and 15 assists across all competitions, underlining his indispensable role at the Santiago Bernabéu.
‎However, controversy now threatens to derail his meteoric rise. According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Vinicius is under scrutiny for alleged involvement in the acquisition of professional football clubs through the sports management firm ALL Agenciamento Esportivo. The company, operated by his father and agent, has been linked to the purchase of Athletic Club of São João del Rei — a Brazilian team that was recently promoted to Serie B.
‎The complaint was filed by Tiberis Holding do Brasil, which claims to hold a 16.5% stake in Athletic Club. Tiberis alleges that their right of first refusal to purchase a majority stake was bypassed when shares were sold directly to ALL. The deal is currently suspended by a commercial court in São Paulo while the matter is investigated.
‎Tiberis further contends that Vinicius's indirect involvement in the acquisition constitutes a violation of Article 20 of the FIFA Code of Ethics, which forbids active players from owning — directly or indirectly — any professional football clubs. They have requested that FIFA’s Ethics Committee impose a two-year ban on the Brazilian forward.
‎Additionally, the case may infringe upon Article 22 of the Spanish Football Federation’s Code of Sports Justice, possibly placing further pressure on Real Madrid and Spanish football authorities to take action.
‎With his current contract running until 2027 and a market valuation hovering around $200 million (£150 million), any suspension would not only impact Vinicius’s career but also create significant challenges for Real Madrid's long-term planning.
‎While investigations continue, ALL has assumed operational control of Athletic Club, further intensifying the dispute. As the case unfolds, the football world awaits a decision that could redefine the future of one of the game's most marketable and talented figures.
‎If the ban materializes, it would mark one of the most high-profile disciplinary actions in modern football — and one that could alter both club and country plans for years to come.
